Rope
When a gymnast preforms this routine, it usually consists of swings, figure eight like motions, wraps and unwrapping. |
Hoop
Common movements with this apparatus includes swings and tosses with the hoop,rolls, catches and spins. The gymnast may also throw the hoop in the air high or pass through the hoop including complicated skills. |
Ball
Waves, circles and throws are combined with this apparatus to create a splendid routine. Gymnasts also include rolling the ball on the floor and parts of the body as key movements. |
Clubs
This apparatus can be very fun with its rhythmical tapping. Th routine also includes swings, varied sizes of circles, and catches. |
Ribbon
A routine with a ribbon can, as you might imagine, is very graceful. The gymnast includes tricks such as throwing the ribbon up in the air, snakes, spirals, and figure-eight movements. The ribbon must remain constantly in motion with the gymnast. |
Group
In this event, five athletes work together as a team to produce a synchronized, harmonious routine. The routine must include challenges from the same body movement categories that apply to individual competition and characteristic movements for the equipment. Plus, the gymnasts must include skills involving large and small exchanges of apparatuses. The more interaction between the team, the better. To plop some more frosting on the cake so to speak, the team must preform two routines. One routine is preformed with the same five pieces of equipment for each gymnast and the second routine is competed with mixed equipment choreographed into the routine.
